Rockers and riders to entertain crowds at this year's Bikefest

A STUNT show and a line-up of live music acts have been announced for this year’s Rugby Bikefest, which takes place later this month.

The Extreme Bike Battle stunt show, featuring motorbikes and stunt bikes, will take centre stage at this year’s event.

The soundtrack will be provided by local bands Paper Street Soap Company, The Needless, 2nd Hand Daylight, Rudesix, The Rooters, Monday Nights, Rugby Electric Guitar Orchestra, Gutter Puppy, The Imposters and Wild Ride, who will perform on music stages in Market Place and Church Street.

The eighth Bikefest – organised by Rugby First in conjunction with Rugby Borough Council and local motorcycling groups – is returning to its usual springtime slot, after last year’s event was moved to September and the 2020 event was cancelled altogether due to Covid restrictions.

The festival – which typically attracts thousands of visitors into the town centre – will open with the now-traditional ‘ride-in’, where hundreds of bikes roar into the town centre at 10.30am. The bikes will do a circuit of the town centre before parking on North Street and Church Street.

It will also feature bike displays, stalls, children’s activities, a funfair and street food.

Rugby First’s Operations Director Jo Kemp said: “The music at Bikefest is always a big draw and this year I think we have got a great line-up of local bands and talented performers on display. A massive thanks to the creative team who have put together such an exciting programme.

“Don’t forget if you want to join the very popular ride-in, you will need to register online.”

Rugby Bikefest takes place on Sunday May 22 between 10.30am and 4pm.

Visit www.bikefest.rugbyfirst.org for more information, or for bike-owners to register to take part in the ride-in. Visit www.facebook.com/RugbyBikeFest for stage times and further information.
