RUGBY Rotary Club is past the half way point in its four year project to improve the Great Central Way as part of their centenary celebrations.
The club entered into a partnership with Rugby Borough Council (RBC) and the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust in 2018 to manage the northern section of the way between Hillmorton Road and Abbey Street.
And they have now completed more than 800 hours work including creating glades, building dead hedges as ‘bug hotels’ and cutting back vegetation.
As part of the centenary project new seating and artwork is set to be installed to create an ‘Art Trail’.
RBC parks and grounds manager Chris Worman said: “The council is very pleased to be involved in this fantastic project. The Rotary Club is making landscape and ecological improvements on this section of the Great Central Way which will benefit both wildlife and people.”
