Rugbeians urged to take advantage of walk-in booster jabs

Rugby Editorial 20th Dec, 2021   0

RUGBEIANS are being reminded they can take advantage of walk-in Covid vaccine booster jabs available in the town.

Booster jabs are available without appointments over the Christmas period at Locke House and Hillmorton Ex-Serviceman’s Club, as the national campaign to offer every adult the chance to get their jab ramps up.

The NHS in Coventry and Warwickshire has also increased the numbers of appointments available across the area.

And the town’s MP Mark Pawsey wants residents to take up the offer.

He said: “I am urging everyone who is eligible to come forward and get their jab as soon as they can. The walk-in clinics are a good opportunity for people to drop by when they have the time, or you can book an appointment on the NHS website.

“The vaccine remains our best defence against serious illness from Covid-19 and the evidence shows that getting your booster jab will help to protect you against all variants, including Omicron.

“I also want to take this opportunity to thank, on behalf of all local residents, our GPs, pharmacists and volunteers who will be working tirelessly over the Christmas break to help get these jabs out. They have done an incredible job over the last 12 months with the UK administering over 25million booster jabs already, but there remains more work to do.”

Locke House at The Railings in Woodside Park and Hillmorton’s Ex-Serviceman’s Club in High Street, Hillmorton are both offering booster jabs for all eligible patients as well as first and second doses for over-16s.

Online bookings are now available for everyone over 18. To be eligible for a booster jab, people must have had their second dose at least three months ago.

Locke House is open Monday to Friday between 8am and 8pm, on Saturdays between 8am and 5pm, and on Sundays between 8am and 2pm for walk-in clinics.

The Hillmorton Ex-Servicemen’s Club is doing walk-in clinics from now until Thursday December 23 between 9am and 6pm, and then from Saturday Decembe 26 to Thursday December 30 between 9am and 6pm. On New Years Eve (Friday December 31) the Club will be open between 9am and 5pm, and then reopens in the new year on Sunday January 2 until Sunday January 9 between 9am and 6pm.

Jabs can also be booked by visiting https://tinyurl.com/2s3t38nn or calling 119.
