Rugby Art Gallery and Museum offering a warm welcome this winter

Rugby Editorial 5th Dec, 2022   0

A WARM welcome awaits visitors to Rugby Art Gallery and Museum this winter.

The Little Elborow Street venue is inviting residents to come in from the cold at a series of winter warm hubs, as the cost-of-living crisis bites and energy bills go up.

The free Feel Warm, Feel Welcome sessions start on Tuesday December 13, offering visitors the chance to take a break and enjoy each other’s company in cosy surroundings.

A £300 grant from the Warwickshire Rural Community Council’s Warm Hubs fund has supported the sessions, which include craft activities, board games, free hot drinks and biscuits, and access to free wi-fi.

Rugby Borough Council’s leisure and wellbeing spokesman Coun Howard Roberts said: “Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s warm hub offers visitors the welcome chance to take a break, socialise and engage with crafts and board games during the winter months.

“Research has shown the tremendous benefits arts and crafts can bring in terms of mental and social wellbeing, so we’re delighted to have secured funding from Warwickshire Rural Community Council to help us deliver free weekly sessions in Rugby.”

Feel Warm, Feel Welcome runs every Tuesday until March 28. Each session runs from 2pm to 4pm.

Members of the Revive Network of churches in Rugby are also hosting ‘warm banks’ at different times across the week, as part of the national Warm Welcome campaign. Visit www.reviverugby.net/warmplaces for more information.
