ENTRIES are now open for this year’s Rugby Open exhibition at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum.

The annual exhibition celebrates and showcases the best artwork from the area.

There are several prizes for works in the exhibition, selected by the judging panel and local sponsors. The overall winner will also have the opportunity to host an exhibition in Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s Floor One Gallery.

Last year’s winner David Broadfield said: “I was very pleased and surprised to win, and the Floor One exhibition has encouraged me to finish off quite a few pieces I’ve been working on over a period of time.

“I have also produced a number of new ones especially for the Floor One exhibition and I am now in the process of framing them ready for the opening on December 2.”

Katie Boyce, Rugby Art Gallery and Museum’s senior visual arts officer, said the Rugby Open was a great opportunity for local artists to exhibit work in a professional gallery.

She added: “We have a wealth of talent in the area and I would like to not only encourage all of those artists that regularly apply, but also nurture some of the younger, emerging artists we have.

“This year we have introduced a new category for 16 to 25-year-olds, so I’d urge young artists to submit works for consideration.”

Submissions can be in all types of media, including painting, drawing, print, photography, textiles, ceramics, jewellery and sculpture.

Selected works will be shown in an exhibition from November 28 to January 13.

Submissions must be made by November 12. Call (01788) 533217, visit or call in at the Rugby Visitor Centre for an application form.
