Rugby care-bear kids raise money for hospice

YOUNGSTERS from The Blue Strawberry Daycare in Rugby raised almost £300 for Myton Hospice after caring for their own four-legged friends.

The children had the task of caring for a wooden bear for the week and make a diary of what they did each day. They had to decorate the bear with a face and clothes and ask people to sponsor them for caring for the bear.

Karen Carter, Manager of The Blue Strawberry, said: “The children really enjoyed caring for their bears and brought them into nursery each day to show us what they had done. I’m really proud of their achievements and to see their reactions when they heard the final amount was heart-warming to see.”

The children gathered with staff from Myton Hospice on Monday July 6 to see the results of their hard work and gave out prizes for the best bears. Overall winner Grace Wilson was rewarded with a new teddy bear.
