Rugby care home celebrates first staff member to be vaccinated

SPIRITS at a Rugby care home have been lifted by the news that a member of staff has become the first to be vaccinated against covid-19.

Alma Taylor, activities coordinator at Overslade House, received the coronavirus vaccine at University Hospital Coventry, the first member of the Overslade family to do so.

She said: “Participating in the vaccination program is a one-off chance for us all to do our part in eliminating the virus, not only from our care homes and hospitals, but from UK society in general.”

General manager Violetta Baesu said: “We’ve had a year like no other and the vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel.

“Our teams have been magnificent in how they have risen to every challenge during this pandemic and we are proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected.”
