Rugby care home rated 'outstanding'

A CARE home in Rugby has been hailed ‘outstanding’ by officials.

Drovers House, run by WCS Care Homes, is now among the one per cent of care homes in the UK to be so highly rated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

It joins fellow WCS Care Homes Mill Green in Newbold-on-Avon, Dewar Close in Bilton and Newlands in Kenilworth which all gained the status last year.

Drovers House opened in 2013 as a specialist dementia care home providing up to 75 places.

The CQC report described the residents’ care as ‘the heart of the service’, after the regulators paid an unannounced visit.

It praised the care home for its various social activities, use of technology and the staff’s interaction with residents.

Peter and Muriel Farley have been married for over 67 years and moved in to Drovers House together last year.

Former college principal Peter said: “Drovers House is an outstanding place to live and we love it here – we’re able to live our life naturally and do what we’ve always done and try new experiences if we choose to.”

Former fundraiser Muriel added: “We’ve been married for almost 70 years, so it was really important for us to stay together.

“Living at Drovers House has given us the opportunity to stay together in our lovely double rooms. We couldn’t have wished for a nicer home right in the centre of the community.”
