Rugby College scores 100 per cent A-Level pass rate

A-LEVEL results at Warwickshire College have improved for the sixth year in a row.

Students at the college’s Rugby site achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.

And combined with results at the college’s Leamington site, the figure was 98.6 per cent – an increase of 0.2 per cent and higher than the national average of 98.1 per cent.

Students across the two colleges scored a 100 per cent pass rate in 14 A-level subjects including English Literature, Biology, History and Philosophy.

Lydia Pettifer, 18 from Rugby achieved A*, C and C in Business, Health and Social Care and Sociology.

She said: “I really enjoyed the Business course so I’ve decided to continue with the subject at university. I’m going to Sheffield Hallam to study Business Marketing and I can’t wait!”

Connor McGarrity, 20 from Rugby scored B, B and C grades in Chemistry, Biology and Maths and is off to Sheffield Hallam University to study Biochemistry.

He said: “After GCSEs I went straight into a full-time job in a local shop but, after two years there I decided it wasn’t for me so I came back to college.

“I didn’t do very well in my first year but as soon as we started applying through UCAS I realised how important it was so I decided to knuckle down and bring my A game into the second year and, thankfully, it’s really paid off!

“I’ve got exactly the grades I was after and I’m now off to my university of choice. I’m hoping to go into either medical research or toxology when I’ve completed my four years.”
