A CYCLIST whose head hit the windscreen of a car has been airlifted to safety.

The man, believed to be 50 years old, was riding along Hillmorton Road in Rugby just after 7.15pm on Monday evening (August 17) when he collided with the car – a black Kia Sportage.

A paramedic arrived quickly on the scene to tend to the injured cyclist who appeared to have a serious head injury.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed the man was treated at the scene and regained consciousness before being airlifted to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call 101, quoting incident number 338 of August 17.
