Rugby Eco Hub party marks successful first year

A BIRTHDAY celebration marked the first anniversary of an environmentally friendly initiative in Rugby.

Rugby Eco Hub – which lives by the slogan ‘reduce, reuse, repair, recycle, regenerate’ – held a ‘First Year Fiesta’ at its Clifton Road HQ.

Following an inaugural annual review of the hub’s projects and achievements, visitors – including Mayor Barbara Brown – were treated to a celebratory home-made vegan lunch from the hub’s kitchen.

A fundraising auction was held, followed by ‘Earth Club in the Hub 2025’ – an afternoon of live music set to the backdrop of a ‘Rugby Village Fair’.

The hub hosts a Repair Cafe and a Library of Things, and runs a Community Garden and Kitchen in the town.

Rugby MP John Slinger described the Eco Hub as a ‘great initiative’ which showed the town’s community spirit in action.

He added: ““It’s people with a shared passion for the environment who have decided to do something about it by bringing the community together and offering them something tangible and useful.

“They’re showing an alternative approach to our modern modus operandi of buying products that are often not very well made, and then dumping them rather than repairing them, which is bad for the environment and ultimately wasteful.

“Thank you to the EcoHub and Repair Cafe for all you do.”
