Rugby filmmaker's heartwarming drama heads to the big screen

Rugby Editorial 9th Mar, 2024   0

A ‘FUN and heartwarming’ movie by a Rugby-based filmmaker is heading to the big screen.

The Warwickshire countryside plays a leading role in the recently released award-winning film All Roads Lead to Home by Darren Scott.

Now the film is set to be screened with a full surround-sound cinema experience for the very first time at the 2024 Northampton Film Festival (NFF) later this month.

Much of the film was shot in and around Rugby and the village of Napton, as well as Stratford, Leamington and Coventry. The film was completed with a four-day shoot in North Wales.

Leamington’s Woodbine Street Studios was the venue for the recording of the film’s key songs and the soundtrack, and producer John Rivers – whose work includes The Specials’ Ghost Town – helped give the music an 80s sound.

Napton musician Jason Havard wrote the songs and co-wrote the score with Darren.

The film follows songwriters Amy and Matt, who are united by personal tragedies and embark on a journey of healing, soul-searching and friendship.

It won the awards for Best Feature Film and Best Local Film at the 2023 Birmingham Film Festival.

Director Darren said: “When we screened our film in Birmingham, so many people urged us to submit it to NFF, as they felt the feel-good factor of the film, it’s cast and crew would fit perfectly with the vibe.

“We are honoured to be part of such an amazing curation of films at NFF and I’m personally looking forward to seeing as many of them as possible.”

“We also want everyone to know that this will be the last chance you can get to see All Roads Lead to Home in a cinema in the Midlands before we take it on its own journey to festivals around the world.”

All Roads Lead to Home screens at the NFF on Saturday March 16.
