Rugby Food Festival back on the menu

CULINARY delights will be in abundance when the Rugby Food and Drink Festival returns to the town centre next week.

A festival guide is now available, detailing events including a Farmers Market, two Food Fayres, a Real Ale Trail, a Kid’s Kitchen and various fringe events.

The Farmers Market kicks off the festival, now in its second year, on Thursday September 25 in Market Place, from 10am to 4pm. Fresh produce on offer from local farmers, brewers, growers and bakers will include award winning cakes, cheeses, meats, fish, fudge, honey, jams, olives, ciders, breads, real ales and more.

The food fayres planned for Friday and Saturday (September 26 and 27), from 10.30am to 5pm, will take place in the grounds of St Andrew’s Church. Businesses will offer a selection of freshly-prepared food and drink, while a pop-up kitchen holds cookery demonstrations and a Pop-Up Real Ale Bar serves up a few local brews.

The Rugby Real Ale Trail, part of Cask Ale Week (September 25 to October 5) to celebrate Britain’s national drink, will guide beer lovers around the town’s best ale pubs.

Aftab Gaffar, Managing Director of Rugby First, said: “Although only in its second year, the event has grown and attracted considerable interest and this is reflected by the fact that both Farmers Market and Food Fayre are now fully booked.

“I would encourage anyone who plans to visit the event to make sure they don’t miss out on all the culinary delights that will be showcased over the four days.”
