THE HOSPITAL of St Cross in Rugby has been named one of the best NHS organisations in the country to work for, according to a national survey.

The University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) Trust was praised in an annual NHS staff survey for having improved in almost every area.

Around 93 per cent of staff at the Trust – which runs the Hospital of St Cross and University Hospital in Coventry – said they felt their work made a difference to patients.

Staff also said they would recommend the Trust as a place to work or be treated, and praised the training and support they received.

The majority of NHS trust staff felt proud of the quality of work and patient care they were able to provide and said they felt motivated in their roles.

The hospitals also scored highly in how informed staff feel about their organisation, and how involved they are in decisions.

CEO of UHCW NHS Trust Andy Hardy said: “I am delighted we have been named in the national NHS staff survey as one of the top-performing hospital Trusts in the country.

“We have some of the most dedicated and skilled healthcare workers, who provide excellent care to patients across Coventry, Warwickshire and beyond. We have a duty to them to be the world class employer that they deserve.

“The results of this survey demonstrate great progress on our journey towards world class. However, there are areas for improvement, and through schemes such as our partnership with the Virginia Mason Institute in Seattle, we will be doing further work to encourage and act on feedback from our staff.”
