A MODERNISED technology hub in Rugby which is integral to the communication of Britain’s blue-light heroes has been unveiled.

Motorola Solutions has invested £2.1million to upgrade its operation centre for the Airwave network, which provides mission-critical mobile radio communications for 300,000 emergency services personnel.

The site, which first opened in 2009, also innovates in control room, mobile policing and body-worn camera technology for public safety agencies across the UK.

Motorola says the investment will ‘create a workspace that promotes collaboration and further boost operations with the latest technology’.

Rugby MP Mark Pawsey cut the ribbon at the newly-upgraded hub.

He said: “For the past 14 years, Motorola Solutions has supported hundreds of jobs in fields such as engineering and software development, managing and maintaining the Airwave emergency services communications system that provides critical and secure communications for first responders across the country.”

Motorola Solutions’s country manager Fergus Mayne added: “This investment highlights our commitment to supporting the UK’s emergency services. The newly created collaborative office space provides a state-of-the-art work environment to help our teams be productive and attract the best new talent to our industry and a career in communications.”
