A CELEBRATION of a new children’s book adapted from the works of William Shakespeare takes place at Rugby Library this weekend.

The Little Elborow Street library is hosting a series of free events – from animation workshops and author talks to interactive dance performances – to mark the launch of Shakespeare’s First Folio: All The Plays.

The book, the first ever illustrated children’s edition of the Bard’s First Folio, was adapted by Warwickshire resident Dr Anjna Chouhan to celebrate the First Folio’s 400th anniversary, and features illustrations by Emily Sutton and a poem by children’s author Michael Rosen.

The events at Rugby Library include a one-hour animation workshop in which participants can use AI animation to create their own Shakespeare character, a talk with author Anjna Chouhan and Emily Sutton, and performance workshops which invite children to jump into a magical fairy ring and learn an interactive dance to welcome in the flower fairies of the summer.

Coun Yousef Dahmash, Warwickshire County Council’s spokesman for Customer and Transformation, said: “This day of events is a fantastic opportunity for families to introduce their children to Shakespeare in a fun and engaging way that is accessible to their reading age.

“I encourage those with children to attend to help ignite a new appreciation of literature and Shakespeare plays among the young people in our communities.”

The event takes place on Saturday (April 27). Visit for more information and to book places for activities.
