Rugby man charged with drugs and assault offences

A RUGBY man has been charged with drugs and assault offences.

On Wednesday August 11, Charlie McMorran, of Marlborough Road, was charged with assaulting an emergency worker, and possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

The 24-year-old went before magistrates in Coventry on Thursday August 12 and is set to appear at Warwick Crown Court on September 1.

It follows an incident on Izod Road in Rugby on Tuesday (10 August), when plain clothed officers from Rugby Proactive CID witnessed a suspected drug deal in an alleyway.

Subsequent enquiries led officers to a nearby address where class B drugs and a quantity of cash were recovered.

A 16-year-old boy from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs and has since been released under investigation.
