Rugby newsbites: Local Plan delay; Brownsover surgery update; community forum; murder mystery

Rugby Editorial 23rd Feb, 2017   0

RUGBY’S housing blueprint for the next 15 years will be delayed because Rugby Borough Council has still not received evidence from Warwickshire County Council to support their recommendations for transport improvements.

The two month delay will allow the borough council to consider the government’s recent White Paper on housing, and give officers more time to consider public feedback.

The revised timetable means councillors will decide whether to submit the Local Plan to the Planning Inspectorate on May 25.

The draft Local Plan is due to be submitted for public examination in mid-June.

February 2018 is now the target date to adopt the Rugby Local Plan.

Visit www.rugby.gov.uk/localplan for more information.

BROWNSOVER residents will have the chance to give their views on the proposed new GP practice for the area.

A drop-in information session takes place at Christ Church, Brownsover on Thursday March 2 from 4.30-6.30pm.

AN OPPORTUNITY to speak to councillors, council officers and the Police’s Rugby Town North Safer Neighbourhood Team takes place next week.

The Rugby Town North Community Forum will focus on issues affecting the Benn, Coton & Boughton and Newbold & Brownsover wards.

It takes place on Thursday March 2 from 6.30pm at The Oasis (community hall), Rugby Health and Wellbeing Centre, Drovers Court.

A MURDER mystery evening is the next Open Door event at Rugby’s St Andrew’s Church.

Murder by Crossbow takes place at the town centre church on Friday March 3, starting at 7.30pm.

The Diocesan solicitor Mr Hardcastle Douglas has called together all interested parties for the reading of a will – sadly the much-loved Bishop Harold Hobson has died. But why is there a crossbow primed in the kitchen?

Attendance costs £10, with a fish and chip supper included when booked in advance. Contact the Church Office on 01788 565609 or at [email protected] by Wednesday March 1.
