Rugby School students celebrate record-breaking A-Level results

Rugby Editorial 15th Aug, 2019   0

RUGBY School students are again celebrating record-breaking A level and Pre-U results.

Almost one in four grades were A* – or the Pre U equivalent of D1 or D2 – while well over 60 per cent of all grades were A* or A.

More than a third of all entries in Mathematics, Physics, Art and Design, and Modern Languages were A*s or the Pre U equivalent, while one in four grades in English Literature, History and Geography were A*s.

There were 24 students who achieved 3A*s or better, while half of the year group achieved 144 UCAS points or more – the equivalent of three As.

The vast majority of leavers will join the world’s leading universities.

Headmaster Peter Green said: “These are outstanding results from an impressive year group. They have been hugely committed and successful and have once again shown that co-curricular and academic involvement and success are mutually supportive.

“Alongside their academic achievements the girls’ hockey team reached the semi-finals of the national cup, while the boys’ rugby XV made the quarter finals of the national cup. Students from this year group have also achieved national recognition in Music and Drama, while every student has contributed to the School’s extensive Community Action programme.

“This year group has thrived at Rugby, developing the skills and traits of character that will serve them well as they progress to the next stage of their lives.”
