A MINI music mogul is dreaming of stardom after launching her own record label.
Flo Bannigan, 13, has signed her friend Beth Ford from Walsall to her record label Angry Baby – and watched her first single climb to number three on the iTunes new releases chart.
After researching how to release her own music at the age of 11, Rugby High School pupil Flo decided to distribute Beth’s track, If I Could Escape.
Flo told the Observer: “It’s an amazing result for a debut single from a virtually unknown artist without a major label behind her. I’m very proud of Beth. She is a brilliant singer and deserves success. I hope this is the just the first of many successful records for her.”
She said she was glad to have the support of her family and friends as she makes her mark in the music industry.
“Everybody is always very supportive and lovely and I am very thankful for that,” she added. “My friends even took part in a ‘focus group’ for me when I was asked to write about a new artist and I wanted to know what they thought of her.”
When asked about where her inspiration came from, Flo said: “I’ve always loved music and I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t singing. I discovered musical theatre, which is definitely my first love, at a very young age. I’ve appeared in several productions, professional and amateur, and I always enjoy being on stage.”
Flo and Beth were first in the spotlight when they joined Alfie Boe on stage at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham back in 2011.
Looking to the future, Flo says she would love to “perform Eponine in Les Miserables or Ilse in Spring Awakening if it ever comes back to the West End.
“And I’d love to be the Doctor’s companion in Doctor Who. But performing arts is very competitive so I’d be happy to be doing anything, because it’s what I love.”
