Rugby Twinning Association keeps Anglo-French relations alive during Evreux visit

Rugby Editorial 4th Sep, 2019   0

A BREATH of French air was enjoyed by members of Rugby Evreux Twinning Association on a visit to our twin town across the channel.

They were welcomed at a reception at Evreux Town Hall before spending a long weekend enjoying the hospitality of French host families.

The weekend included a visit to Biotropica, a specialist zoo with unusual animals from throughout the world, and a meal with musical entertainment at the Chateau de Trangis.

Mayor of Evreux Guy Lefrond welcomed the group from Rugby, praising those present for many years of twinning – some for over forty years.

The twinning charter between the two towns was signed 60 years ago, and this year Evreux also commemorates 75 years since the liberation of the town from the Nazis.

Monsieur Lefrond expressed gratitude to British forces that made significant sacrifices during the liberation of France.

Rugby Evreux Twinning Association promotes social twinning between families in Rugby and Evreux. Contact chairman, Steve Woodford at [email protected] or on 01788 561996.
