Rugby venue to host celebration of local female singer-songwriters

A CELEBRATION of female singer-songwriter talent is coming to the Benn Hall next month.

Girls and Guitars will see Kristy Gallacher, Josie Field, Becki Morgan and Jessie May Lea showcase their voices and songs on March 30.

Kristy Gallacher from Coventry first played in Rugby in 2011 when she performed at the Rugby Music Festival.

Promoter David Head of DCH Ents said: “She has a beautiful voice and a wonderful picking guitar style. She has released three albums and it’s fantastic that she will be showcasing her material in Rugby again.”

He added it was ‘a treat’ to have Josie Field bring her ‘highly emotional songwriting and truly gripping voice’ to a Rugby venue.

He said Rugby born-and-bred Becki Morgan will be showcasing her ‘high quality soulful songwriting’.

Rounding off the bill, David said country singer Jessie May Lea has been described as ‘Rugby’s Taylor Swift’, and had ‘a great musical future ahead of her’.

He added: “We have seen time and time again the talent that the Midlands – and especially Rugby – produces, and we are proud to be showcasing yet again.

“This is a show for a discerning audience; hearing new material from great songwriters, delivered themselves, is always a treat. With its nod to female Midlands talent we think this event is going to be pretty special.”

Visit www.bennhall.com for tickets, costing £10 each.
