A SENSATIONAL sum has been raised for charities in town and across the UK by volunteers at the annual Rugby Combined Charities Christmas Card Shop.
In the eight weeks leading up to Christmas, the shop – based at St Andrew’s Church – raised £17,000 selling greetings cards and other festive items such as stocking fillers and wrapping paper.
The proceeds will go to 16 charities, local and national.
The shop’s publicity officer Zinnia Allen said: “Yet again the RCCCC Shop has exceeded all expectations.
“The committee would like to thank the people of Rugby and surrounding areas, St Andrew’s Church and everybody involved in the shop for giving their time so generously as volunteers.
“We look forward to another good Christmas later this year!”
