Rugby woman in the running to be named ‘Social Worker of the Year’

CELEBRATIONS are underway for a Rugby woman who is in the running to be named ‘Social Worker of the Year’.

Angell Phoenix said she was honoured to have been put forward for the annual award, which recognises and celebrate the outstanding contributions of social workers in their field.

She said: “My nomination came from our management team who are incredibly supportive, and I was surprised when they told me they had nominated me.

“Genuinely, that was enough for me.

“That recognition was incredible, and I never thought for a second that I would be selected as a finalist.”

Angell graduated from Heart of Worcestershire College’s Peakman Campus in Redditch.

A college spokesperson said: “Her incredible efforts have brought about significant changes in the lives of young individuals and families, making her an invaluable asset to the community.

“We couldn’t be prouder of her achievement. Regardless of the outcome, Angell’s nomination alone is an outstanding accomplishment and reflects her contributions to the field of social work.”
