Rugby's biggest firework display set to go off this weekend

THE BIGGEST and brightest fireworks display in Rugby is set to go off this weekend.

Rugby Round Table will host its annual Firework Spectacular at Whinfield Park in Clifton Road on Saturday (November 4).

The show has grown with the times since it was first held on Guy Fawkes’ Night in 1951 to raise money for local orphans.

Gates open at 4.30pm. A child and toddler-friendly fireworks display begins at 6pm, followed by the main display. Hot food and drink will be available.

New for this year are the Fire and Ice Walk Challenges in aid of Rugby Myton Hospice. Participants can take on two extremes – walking over razor sharp glass, also known as an Ice Walk, or the red hot Fire Walk. Entry costs £25 each or £40 for both, and includes entry to the event.

A Round Table spokesperson said: “The event relies on the efforts of dozens of volunteers who want to ensure that this is the best fireworks event in Rugby and gives the best possible value for all attendees.

“We’re proud to be still running the event and have been overwhelmed with positive feedback in recent years.”

All profits from ticket sales go towards local charities and good causes. Advance discounted tickets are available. Visit www.rugbyfireworks.co.uk for tickets and more information.
