Rugby's Mill Road closed for gas repair - for 'up to three weeks'

A MAIN Road connecting the north and south of Rugby was closed to all traffic today for a maximum of three weeks to repair a gas leak.

Warwickshire County Council (WCC) said the emergency closure of Mill Road, which runs under the railway line near the train station, was necessary to avoid the likelihood of danger to the public while repairs are made.

The closure will be in place “for a period of up to 21 days, or until remedial works are completed – whichever is sooner”.

Pedestrians will still be able to access houses and businesses on Mill Road, and vehicle access will be maintained “where possible”.

The Council suggested an alternative route of Hollowell Way, Boughton Road, Leicester Road, Junction One Retail Park and Technology Drive.

A council spokesperson said: “We regret any inconvenience that may be caused.

“The team dealing with this Temporary Traffic Order at WCC is Network Management – 01926 412515.

“Any enquiries relating to the works being undertaken may be directed to the contractor dealing with the matter on behalf of National Grid, Headway TM – 0121 474 4344.”
