Rush-hour mugger tried to take woman's handbag

A MUGGER hit a woman and tried to take her handbag at around 5pm last night (Wednesday December 4).

The victim, a woman in her late teens, was walking down Abbey Street when she was approached an unknown man who tried to snatch her bag.

In the ensuing struggle, the would-be robber hit her in the face.

The offender, who left the scene empty-handed in the direction of Murray Road, is male, of medium build, around 6ft 3in tall and wearing a long dark coat with his face covered.




Police are investigating and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time, or has dash-cam footage of the incident.
