A CHARMING rustic music festival returned to Cotesbach after a year off.

The Music in the Yard festival filled the village’s quaint Stable Yard with happy revellers.

Fed and watered by local suppliers, the crowd were treated to an eclectic range of sounds from acts including Cardiff soul, ska and reggae band Captain Accident and The Disasters, Bristol-based 10-piece Afrobeat band Matuki, classic soul and funk group Danny Toeman and The Love Explosion, traditional folk and rock ’n’ roll act Buffalo Skinners and Brighton hip-hop band Normanton Street.

There was also a mesmerising set from quirky acoustic folk-pop singer-songwriter Cate Ferris, who transfixed her audience with her hard hitting lyrics and intricate harmonies – not to mention her ability to seamlessly record, sequence and assemble entire songs live onstage.
