Sainsbury's grant helps fund talented borough youngsters' future

TALENTED young athletes and singers are set to benefit from a cash injection after four grants were approved by a borough trust fund.

Rugby Area Talent Trust (RATT) has approved the new grants to be distributed and have also agreed to continue funding for a buddy synchronised swimmer.

Courtesy of the Sainsbury’s store on Dunchurch Road, RATT has been able to approve all requested grants this time around – meaning more talented borough youngsters will benefit financially next year.

The latest grants will benefit 10-year-old Lois Arrow and 11-year-old Ellen Goodwin, who have both been recognised for their musical talent and will use the money to purchase recording equipment and singing lessons.

Also on the list are swimmers Megan James and Ben Carley while 16-year-old footballer Kacie Elson – who is training with Aston Villa Ladies – will also benefit from a cash boost to help fund travelling costs.

Furthermore, the money received allowed for the continuation in funding for a buddy synchronised swimmer at Rugby Swimming Club.

David Head, one of the trustees at RATT, said: “We were delighted to receive a donation from Sainsbury’s a few weeks ago.

“It meant we were able to fund all of the requested grants this time around.

“Once again we are delighted to be able to make a difference for a number of skilled young people as a result.”
