Santas on the starting line for charity run

DASHING (through the snow, weather permitting) Father Christmases will descend on Rugby Athletics Track on Sunday (December 3) for the annual Rugby Santa Fun Run.

Joint organisers Rugby & Northampton Athletic Club and Rotary Club of Rugby – and sponsors Xercise4Less and Nicholls Building & Plumbing Merchants – hope the sixth annual event beats last year’s success, when over 700 Santas took part.

Under-eights can take part in the Mini Santa Lap of the track, while anyone over six can run the one-mile off-road dash around the track and park.

The main event – the 5k Santa Run – starts and finishes at the track and is open to over-eights of all abilities.

Teams from businesses, schools and organisations can battle it out for the Santa Run Cup.

Santa suits, medals and a mince pie are included in the entry fee and there are prizes for individual winners as well as spot prizes.

All funds raised will go to the Rotary Club of Rugby and Rugby & Northampton Athletic Club Athletics Foundation.

The event takes place between 9am-12pm at Rugby Athletics Track, Bruce Williams Way on Sunday (December 3).
