School burglars steal laptops and iPads used by children of key workers

BURGLARS broke into a Rugby school and stole laptops and iPads being used by the children of key workers.

The thieves struck at Rugby Free Primary during the evening on Wednesday May 13. Police are currently investigating after being given CCTV footage by Learning Today Leading Tomorrow which runs the Bailey Road school.

Headteacher Rebecca Butters said: “I am saddened that someone would effectively steal from our children.

“At this time when ICT has become so important for all teachers around the country to teach and support children, it is difficult to comprehend these actions. We are fortunate that our sister school, Rugby Free Secondary School has agreed to loan us a number of iPads to support our children while we wait for the originals to be returned or replaced.”

There was no damage caused during the break-in and the school remains open.

Learning Today Leading Tomorrow CEO Brenda Mullen added: “It is upsetting and disappointing that our headteacher and staff team are being diverted by this incident.

“They are all working incredibly hard to support children remotely and in school as well as planning for Reception and Year 1 children to return from June 1. We are working closely with Warwickshire Police and hope that this matter is resolved quickly”.
