AN EMOTIONAL farewell took place when a school governor retired after more than 30 years.

Alan Webb, a governor at Boughton Leigh Infant School, first joined the school in 1985, when it was known as Boughton Leigh First School.

During his service he has held many roles on the governing board, including 12 years as Chair of Governors. He has seen many changes over the years including the reorganisation of schools.

He performed his last duty as a governor when he met with school colleagues and pupils to open the newly refurbished school nursery.

He said: “I joined as I wanted to help make a difference to the local community of Brownsover. It has been a privilege to see the school and local children develop and succeed.

“I am honoured to open the newly refurbished nursery and I wish all the staff and pupils well for the future.”

The school’s head teacher Andrew Moorcroft said: “Alan has been a very keen supporter of both our school and the wider community of Brownsover for 34 years. He has given his time freely and worked tirelessly to improve the opportunities for children at our school.

“It is a fitting tribute to Alan’s dedication that he has formally opened our newly refurbished nursery. This was the final project that he oversaw and he is leaving a lasting legacy for the young people at Boughton Leigh Infants.

“We wish Alan all the best and thank him for his great contribution to the success of Boughton Leigh Infant School.”
