School in Rugby sells land to developers

A DUNCHURCH school has agreed to sell almost three hectares of unused land to developers who plan to build 50 new homes on the site.

Bilton Grange Preparatory School will sell 2.91 hectares of land – around the size of four football pitches – behind the Rugby Road in Dunchurch to developers Morris Homes.

The school, which currently has over 300 pupils, said the sale would help invest in the school’s future.

The land has been unused for years but became an ideal location to build new homes for the area.

Developers Morris Homes, who have their Midlands office in Rugby, said a contract stipulation which restricts the number of homes to be built on the land to 50 would ensure the housing density of land was in keeping with the area.

Alex Osiatynski, Headmaster of the school, said: “The land sold has not been used by the school in living memory and sits outside the Bilton Grange registered park.

“The school will still retain over 90 acres of heritage parkland and woodland for our children to enjoy as part of their very special Bilton Grange experience.

“Exploring and learning outdoors is a crucial part of our children’s holistic education and our pupils will continue to use our extensive grounds to support their learning.”
