Schoolgirl sacrifices long locks for children's charity

A SEVEN-year-old girl has sacrificed her long locks so they can be worn by ill children with no hair.

As well as donating eight inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust, Millie Barnett raised just under £400 in sponsorship money for the charity.

Millie said she was inspired by a schoolfriend who also had her hair cut for charity.

She said: “I was very excited before my cut because I knew I was helping people.

“I love my new hair! It’s very short but I know it will grow back.

“I am so happy with how much I raised and am proud of myself. Maybe this might inspire another little girl to do this too!”

She thanked Claire at Exquisite Hair Design for the haircut, Anita at Papillon Cafe for hosting the event, and everyone who donated.

Mum Amy added: “Millie’s hair was quite long, but now she has a lovely grown-up bob.

“I am so very proud of Millie – she has done something amazing for such a lovely cause.”

The Little Princess Trust provides free real hair wigs to children across the UK and Ireland who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses. Visit for more information.
