Shocked Rugby resident finds Guinea pigs abandoned on doorstep

A SHOCKED Rugby resident has found two Guinea pigs left abandoned on their doorstep.

Officers from the RSPCA have launched an appeal for information after they were called by the baffled Graham Road resident on Sunday March 13.

RSPCA inspector Jon Ratcliffe said: “This is a very strange abandonment. The resident has no idea why anyone would have done this.

“There was a knock at the door and when they answered there was no one there – just a box with Guinea pigs left on the doorstep. They were in a cardboard box with air holes, but nothing else in the box.

“The resident made enquiries with neighbours in case this was a delivery left at the wrong address, but when they found it was nothing to do with them they contacted us.

“Thankfully both the Guinea pigs are safe and well in one of our animal rescue centres and will soon be found new homes.”

He urged anyone with information about the abandonment to contact the charity on 0300 123 8018.
