Slimmers step up for Rugby homelessness charity

STEPPING up for rough sleepers in Rugby, members of a slimming group took on a walking challenge to raise money for the town’s homelessness charity.

Members from Rugby Weight Watchers took on the organisation’s ‘5k My Way’ challenge at Draycote Water to raise money for Hope4.

Co-organiser Karen Kirby said it was a fantastic day during which £215 was donated to the charity.

Chair of Hope4’s fundraising committee Georgina Newton said: “Hope4 is delighted to have been chosen by Weight Watchers in Rugby as the charity for the 5k walk.

“Hope4 works every day to help the homeless, badly housed and hungry people in Rugby and is pleased to partner with organisations in the town to support those who have fallen on hard times.

“Huge thanks to Karen and all the weight watchers members for their support.”

Hope4, based in Newbold Road, supports local people who are either homeless or badly housed, assisting them with skills, paperwork and job applications.

The charity also runs the town’s Winter Homeless Shelters and the Rugby Foodbank.
