Small donations make big difference to St Cross patients

Rugby Editorial 25th Sep, 2021   0

LITTLE things mean a lot – some small donations have made a big difference to the experience of in-patients at the Hospital of St Cross.

The Friends of St Cross charity has delivered a selection of small wall clocks, hairdryers and free-standing table-top mirrors for all the wards at the hospital.

The items were requested by Specialist Mental Health Nurse Debbie Harris, who believes they will go a long way in benefiting patients.

She said: “The clocks will benefit patients in side rooms where it can feel quite isolating at times, while the hairdryers and mirrors will help patients retain independence with their own personal care and help improve their self-esteem.

“Together all of these items help towards the mental wellbeing of our patients.”

Willy Goldschmidt, Chairman of the Friends of St Cross, added: “It is often the case that the smallest of donations have a great impact on a large number of patients and so it was a pleasure to deliver these items to the team.”
