Speakers to share expertise on food waste, recycling and climate change

AN ECO-friendly talk about food waste, recycling and climate change takes place at a Rugby church later this month.

Guest speaker Rev Charlotte Jackson, a Vicar at St Thomas Keresley, was previously a sustainability manager for Marks and Spencer, leading on food waste reduction.

She worked with suppliers, consumers, with other retailers as well as in house to tackle this issue on all levels, leading on the redistribution of store surplus to charity work.

Joining her will be Alex Becker from Rugby Borough Council. Alex and his family have been striving to live the ‘zero-waste’ life for many years, being regular Freeglers, as well as helping with local projects including the Repair Cafe and Transition Town Rugby.

Since April, Alex has been doing this on a professional level with Rugby Borough Council, taking on responsibility for communication and education around recycling and waste reduction.

The talk, organised by the Rugby Green Christian Group, takes place at Rugby Methodist Church on Tuesday (September 26), from 7.30pm until around 9pm.
