Spotify executive is music to the ears of Harris students

AN EXECUTIVE from a song-streaming platform used by millions worldwide was music to the ears of students of Harris Church of England Academy during a recent visit.

Marco Bertozzi, Vice President of Spotify EMEA Sales, came to the school to speak to Year 9 students.

Marco has worked across TV and digital since 1996. He set up Publicis Groupe’s programmatic operation Audience on Demand in Europe in 2010, and moved to Spotify in 2017 to take on the role of Vice President Europe.

He talked to students about his career and how he progressed in the sector, while giving valuable advice on how to stand out and succeed.

Marco discussed why advertising is important and how Spotify uses music tastes to target advertising.

He emphasised the importance of enjoying your work and doing a good job as a major factor in progressing in the workplace.

Year 9 GCSE Business Studies students took part in a question-and-answer session with Mr Bertozzi.

Deputy head teacher Roberta Harrison said: “Our students had an excellent experience. Marco was a passionate and informative speaker who shared his expert knowledge and offered key advice to our aspirational and driven student body.”

The talk, arranged via the Speakers for Schools charity, was part of a programme of careers education, information and advice for which Harris recently achieved the National Quality Award though Investors in Careers.
