THE RECTOR of a town centre church is moving to pastures new.

Revd Imogen Nay of St Andrew’s Church will leave her role in three months after being appointed as the Canon for Evangelism and Discipleship at Chelmsford Cathedral.

Revd Nay said: “It has been deeply rewarding to serve in the centre of Rugby and to work in partnership with business, local government, charities and groups to re-imagine the place of town centres, as destinations for leisure and tourism, as well as hubs for community building.

“We are delighted that both Rugby Borough Council and Warwickshire County Council are supporting the St Andrew’s Gardens ‘A Space for Everyone’ project.

“Rugby is at a pivotal moment and I trust that the Church will continue to play a central role in its flourishing.”

On behalf of the church wardens, Joyce Woodings said: “We are delighted and proud for Imogen for this deserved recognition of her fine work, but also saddened, for ourselves and for the whole town, that in about three months we shall lose her inspiring leadership.

“Her influence will live on here, and when she and her family leave us they will do so with all our gratitude, best wishes and blessing.

“We shall let everyone know, as promptly as we can, about plans for the future. In the meantime, congratulations, Imogen!”
