ST GEORGE and his trusted knights will ride into town to celebrate England’s National Saint’s Day.
Rugby town centre will host a free family event on Saturday April 25, the nearest Saturday to St George’s Day (Thursday April 23).
Children will have the chance to enter a Knight School, have their face painted, be entertained by Punch and Judy and laugh at the court jester.
There will also be birds of prey, wood crafts, a motorcycle display, a tea cup ride, a bouncy castle, street entertainers, free treats and children’s book character Wally.
Street food will include a hog roast and a make-your-own-pizza stall.
Aftab Gaffar, Managing Director of organisers Rugby First, said: “Events like this are extremely popular especially with families and children.
“In addition to the children’s fancy dress and town crier competitions, local businesses also dress their shop fronts and compete in the annual window dressing competition which provides a wonderful backdrop for the whole event – as well as some friendly rivalry to see who will pick up the coveted trophy from the Mayor of Rugby.”
The free event takes place on High Street and Sheep Street between 11am and 3pm on Saturday April 25. Visit www.rugbytowncentre.co.uk for more information.
