Still plenty of Covid-safe things to do during half-term in Warwickshire

A RANGE of activities, parks and attractions are running in Warwickshire to fill up the rest of the half-term school holidays – and residents are encouraged to take part in a Covid-safe way, with cases still on the rise in the county.

Warwickshire Museums have a full timetable of activities all week, including Arty Tots Spooktacular, Potions Cures and Witches science show, St John’s Haunted House, and a free ‘Museum from Home’ downloadable selection of activities. Visit https://tinyurl.com/y8p2jvts for more information.

Warwickshire libraries are hosting educational events and activities for pre-school and school-aged children – including Rhyme Time, Lego Club, Book Magic, and Autumn Crafts – and providing spooky reading recommendations in the run up to Halloween. Visit www.warwickshire.gov.uk/childrensactivities for more information.

Local Children and Family Centres are also sharing a half-term activity timetable on their Facebook pages. Visit www.warwickshire.gov.uk/childrenandfamilycentres for more.

Warwickshire’s country parks remain open for a day out. Visit https://countryparks.warwickshire.gov.uk for more.

The Family Information Service is running half term holiday activities, including at-home and virtual activities. Visit https://tinyurl.com/uewaf66r for more.

Warwickshire County Council’s interim spokeswoman for customer and transformation Coun Kam Kaur said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming families into our museums, libraries and country parks this half-term and there are lots of events and activities available to keep people busy.

“Whatever you choose to do, remember that Covid-19 is still with us, and so we urge residents to continue practising key Covid-safe behaviours, particularly if you’re seeing other people. Keep testing at home every three to four days and wear a mask in crowded places. Do stay at home if you feel unwell and book a PCR test if you display any Covid symptoms.”

The council’s Covid-19 support hotline is still open Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm, Fridays 9am-4.30pm, and Saturdays 9am-3pm for anyone isolating or looking for extra support. Call 0800 408 1447.

Those struggling to meet household costs may be eligible for financial support and can contact the Local Welfare Scheme at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/localwelfarescheme or on 0800 408 1448 or 01926 359182.
