FIRE broke out at a storage unit site off the A45 when a mobile home caught fire.

Fire crews from Rugby were called to Storage World on the Straight Mile near Bourton-on-Dunsmore just after midnight last Thursday.

The blaze was brought under control by firefighters using main jets and a water bowser.

Company director David Mitchell told the Observer the fire was confined to one caravan on site which had not been used for years, and that storage units had not been affected.

AN ARMED robber locked up staff at the Boat House pub in Braunston before escaping with cash.

The man, who entered the pub in the early hours of Sunday, was of heavy build, out of breath and wearing dark coloured clothing. No one was injured.

Daventry police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a man acting suspiciously at around 11.45pm on Saturday, on the canal towpath near the pub or at the bus stop on the A45 next to the pub before the robbery.

Detective Sergeant Gavin Suttie said: “This is a rare incident to take place in Braunston and we are appealing for the public’s help as part of our investigation.”

A MOTORCYCLIST injured in a crash on Lawford Road on Monday morning was found by an off duty paramedic and a GP who had been passing the scene.

The man, thought to be 24, suffered arm, leg, and pelvic injuries in the crash at at around 8.25am, West Midlands Ambulance Service said, and he was taken to University Hospital for further treatment.
