Superhero kids' fund-raising helps keep life-saving charity airborne

UP, up and away – superhero kids at a Rugby primary school have helped the life-saving Children’s Air Ambulance charity stay airborne with their generous fund-raising activities.

Children at Crescent School presented a cheque for just under £1,670 to the charity’s superhero mascot Blade and Youth Development Manager Anoushka Brown.

Kind-hearted pupils at the school raised the funds for the charity last term.

The school’s council held a superheroes and everyday heroes non-uniform day and a superhero art competition, and organised fund-raising games and competitions for fellow pupils.

The school’s Parents’ Association, the Friends of Crescent, supported the children’s fundraising with a grand prize raffle at their Christmas Bazaar, and donations were collected at the school’s Christmas Carol Concert.

In a school assembly, Anoushka spoke to the children about the life-saving work of the charity – explaining how it relies on donations to fund its work.

Emma Clark, Teacher and School Council Lead at Crescent School, said: “The children really engaged with the fund-raising for the Children’s Air Ambulance and, together with our wider school community, they raised an incredible amount.

“It’s so important for our pupils to understand that if we work together, we can help each other.”

Anoushka said: “We are incredibly grateful to all the pupils, teachers and parents at Crescent School for choosing to support our life-saving charity and for raising such a fantastic amount.

“These vital funds will support our life-saving missions for critically ill babies and children across the UK.

“Without support from the local community, our high-speed transfers wouldn’t be able to continue. Each mission cost £3,600 but we receive no government or National Lottery funding, so every penny raised helps us keep our helicopters flying.”
