Superheroes wanted for Rugby's pancake day charity race

Rugby Editorial 24th Feb, 2017   0

ORGANISERS of Rugby’s annual Ladies’ Fancy Dress Charity Pancake Race have made a final call for participants.

The race takes place in the town centre on Tuesday (February 28) – and organisers Rugby Rokeby Lions are encouraging Rugbeians to turn up in droves and support this year’s fund-raising drive.

The group has chosen to donate this year’s windfall to disability charity New Directions, so they can build a new sensory garden at their Richmond Lodge supported living complex.

Individuals, groups and companies are invited to enter. The race winner will receive the Pancake Trophy and the company represented will receive the Pancake Shield to be held for one year. An inscribed trophy will be presented to the entrant who raised the most sponsorship money. All contenders are encouraged to wear fancy dress.

The event starts at 11.30am outside The Rugby Hotel in Sheep Street. To enter, contact any of the following: Doug Hutchinson (02476 540449), Terry Byrne (01788 576011), Graham Yates (01788 521158) or John Nelson (01788 331194).
