Supporters cheer on charity cyclists past £1,000 total

SUPPORTERS young and old cheered on fund-raisers for a beloved century-old youth club to a total of over £1,000.

A team of staff, volunteers and friends of the Bradby Club took on a 25-mile bike ride – from its East Union Street HQ to three laps of Draycote Water and back – to raise ‘desperately-needed’ funds for the club, which has had to abandon its usual money-spinning events due to the pandemic.

Club leader John Robertson said: “Luckily the weather held out, and all nine riders completed the ride in just over two hours – with the help of some incredible support from my boys Fletcher and Archer and their posters!

“Fund-raising like this has been particularly important at this time due to not being able to hold our usual events, which are truly missed. We risk now having to use valuable reserve funds which unfortunately decrease year on year.”

The club has continued to offer support, guidance and activities to young people during the pandemic, either online or in socially-distanced groups.
