THE FIRST swim centre of its kind in the UK is to open at the former site of Hillmorton British Legion.

Planning permission for the Swim Works centre on High Street in Hillmorton was granted by the borough council last week.

Husband-and-wife owners and Daventry-based swim coaches Jo and Christian Wilson – who also run swimming business Little Splashers and Swimcam – said it would provide a full programme of swimming lessons from baby to adult, aqua yoga, and expert coaching for competitive swimmers and triathletes using video analysis.

The couple chose the British Legion site due to its transport links, car parking, demographics and local school links.

Building work will begin in the next few weeks, with opening planned for the autumn. Up to 10 local jobs will be created.

“We’re really excited about the launch of Swim Works in Rugby,” said Mrs Wilson.

“From mums and babies to people with disabilities and athletes, the centre’s sole focus will be to help people learn and become better swimmers.

“Swim Works will work with the whole community.”
