Talented young Rugby gymnast claims medal at national event

A TALENTED young gymnast has claimed a medal at a national event.

Julia Kaczmarek was awarded a bronze medal at the Women’s Artistic FIG Challenge Qualifier 2021 in Stoke-on-Trent.

The Year 11 Avon Valley School student performed on the beam, bars, vault and floor. At the end of the competition Julia, who was placed first in beam and second on bars, earning her a bronze medal overall.

Julia has been involved in gymnastics with Rugby Gymnastics Club since she was seven years old.




She has now qualified for next year’s competition finals which will take place in Liverpool, where she will compete against some of the best gymnasts in the UK.

Avon Valley Headteacher Alison Davies said: “It is wonderful to hear about our students’ successes, whether they be in or outside of school.


“Julia is a very talented gymnast and a wonderful student. Everyone at AVS wishes her all the best for the competition finals.”
