The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, was arrested on September 3 from his home during a pre-planned operation.

He has been charged with the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism under section 5 of the Terrorism Act. He is also charged with six counts of collecting terrorism information under section 58 of the same act.

He has been remanded in youth detention and will next appear at the Central Criminal Court on October 4.
