Thief stole hundreds in cash from 87-year-old woman

A THIEF stole a purse from an 87-year-old woman in Lutterworth.

At around midday on Tuesday January 26, the women collected her pension from Lutterworth post office and bought a takeaway drink from a café in Church Street.

Her purse was then stolen and £740 taken before the purse was discarded.

It was reported the purse was stolen by a man who offered to help the woman.

Officers have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the theft.

PC Debby Weidacher said: “This was an exceptionally cruel crime at a time when we all need to pull together.

“It happened in the middle of the day when many people would have been out and about and we are asking anyone who may recognise this man to get in touch.”
